The Dana Gallery management and staff chose as the recipient of our first ever HUMANITARIAN OF THE YEAR AWARD, the Missoula artist, David Wilson. David, also a long-time Big Sky High School, Spanish teacher won this award primarily for the years that he served as an interpreter for Missoula Medical Aid, a group of likewise, physicians and other Missoula medical personnel. At times David worked in the field while at other times he interpreted in critical surgical procedures.
David has also give freely of his time to encourage, teach and inspire any number of other artists in the Missoula community.
We have represented and known David personally for 14 years. In that time he has routinely showed us this in working and interacting with other artists and gallery staff the primary characteristics of a humanitarian individual, he is certainly one of the most compassionate, generous, kind and least self-serving persons in the Art World and the world in general. David is one of those rare individuals who make all around him better.
